Emily LaShorne Walz, The Zones of Regulation Emily Walz is a licensed Special Education Teacher (M.S.Ed) with 15+ years of teaching experience working with unique learners and leading social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives in New York City, the Minneapolis/St Paul metro area. She is deeply passionate about the impact of high-quality SEL instruction on equity and inclusion in schools. In her role as Trainer and Implementation Specialist at The Zones of Regulation, Emily provides training, develops resources, and consults with schools, districts, and organizations in the U.S and abroad. She lives on a sunny corner in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her husband and two children. |

Dr. Essie Sutton, Branching Minds Essie Sutton is an Applied Developmental Psychologist and the Director of Learning Science at Branching Minds. Her work brings together the fields of Child Development and Education Psychology to improve learning and development for all students. Dr. Sutton is responsible for studying the impacts of the Branching Minds on students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional outcomes. She also leverages MTSS research and best practices to develop and improve the Branching Minds platform. |

Dr. Clark McKown, X-SEL LABS Clark McKown is President of xSEL Labs, whose mission is to support effective educational practices with high-quality social and emotional learning assessment. A leader in the field of SEL, McKown has written and spoken extensively on SEL with the goal of increasing the capacity of educators to use SEL assessments in support of SEL initiatives. McKown was lead author on a report of the state of the field of SEL assessment. He is also the author of, “Assessing Student Social and Emotional Learning: From Planning Through Action.” |

Marcie Warner, Boerne ISD - Texas Marcie Warner is a Student Support Counselor for Whole Child Services in Boerne ISD. A native Texan, Marcie has a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Baylor University and a Masters in General and Special Ed Counseling Education from Sul Ross University. Marcie’s 32-year career in education includes teaching special education inclusion/resource K-12, behavior unit teacher ECE, speech therapy ECE-12, lead elementary, middle, and high school counselor, campus behavior specialist, One Act Play director, and a District-wide Student Support Counselor. She has worked in 10 school districts in the San Antonio and Hill Country area. Marcie currently serves as the Leader Mentor and CREST Chair for the Texas School Counselor Association. Marcie is married to Sean Warner, an Agricultural Mechanics teacher in Boerne ISD. They have three sons, Sutton, an operations supervisor for Cargill Industries, Koy, a junior at Texas Tech University, and Eli, a junior at Boerne High School. |
