Safety Insights
Canopy Case Management allows districts to manage threat assessment and suicide risk screening alongside the academic and behavioral information already available in our core platform. By bringing safety screening and follow-up intervention into a single, secure system, Canopy helps educators follow district protocols and collaborate to support students when it matters most.
Addressing Literacy Through MTSS
When Goshen County Schools in Wyoming set out to improve literacy, they knew a change to their system of supports was necessary. Their efforts had been hindered by inconsistent practices and low adoption of clunky data systems. With the help of Branching Minds, the district unified its approach to data analysis, professional development, and sustainable literacy protocols. As a result, teachers and administrators now collaborate more effectively, fostering a culture of growth and achieving system-wide success in literacy support.
Winning Against Chronic Absenteeism
Creekside Early Childhood School dramatically reduced chronic absenteeism among K–2 students through strong attendance practices and the Branching Minds platform. The team built an “attendance army” to support students and families, improving collaboration and accountability. The results: an 82% reduction in students flagged for chronic absenteeism, dropping from 98 to just 18, and a school culture where attendance is a shared priority.
Improving Behavior & Social Skills
Evanston/Skokie School District 65 faced low engagement, a 21% chronic absenteeism rate, and disproportionate behavioral referrals. By strengthening their MTSS framework and partnering with Branching Minds, the district integrated SEL and academic data, automated student tiering, and created a clear, data-driven path to targeted interventions.
District-Wide MTSS Implementation
CCSD59 faced complex challenges, including supporting newcomers speaking 70+ languages and an overreliance on intensive interventions that created an “upside-down triangle.” By partnering with Branching Minds to strengthen MTSS, the district centralized data, streamlined processes, and focused on improving Tier 1 instruction. The result: earlier identification, more effective resource use, increased staff confidence, and more students thriving with core instruction alone.
MTSS in Secondary Schools
Medina City Schools brought MTSS to the high school level to address scattered data, inconsistent interventions, and lost student histories during transitions. By partnering with Branching Minds, they created a streamlined, centralized system for academic, behavioral, and SEL data across grades 5–12. Results include State of Ohio recognition for PBIS Tier 1 implementation and fewer students needing additional SEL support based on screening data.

The Case for Smarter MTSS
MTSS Meeting Assistant
AI-Powered Student Support Team Meetings
The Branching Minds Meeting Assistant streamlines student support meetings by facilitating scheduling, automating agenda creation, transcribing conversations, and generating action items.
It’s the first AI-powered MTSS meeting tool of its kind, built to reduce workload and maximize impact. It also has FERPA-compliant safeguards to protect student data.
“When we talk about wanting to make sure that no student is falling through the cracks or looking at ALL students, the ease of the meeting assistant allows us to have more meetings. So we're talking about more kids. We're having more conversations. When you do that, that aligns with our goals of making sure all students are meeting success.”
Theresa Donahue
Plainview Old-Bethpage Central School District, NY
Dottie AI
Your Smart MTSS Assistant
Dottie is a FERPA-compliant, AI-powered MTSS assistant embedded directly in the Branching Minds platform, designed to simplify how educators access insights and take action.
By instantly answering practice-based questions, surfacing student data, and recommending targeted supports, Dottie helps educators move from information overload to confident, timely decision-making.
“I've brought Dottie to the academic teams when things arise, drive their work and align to the needs of a smaller group of children, an individual kid, even a class based on data and what they're looking for. Teams have used it to look for ideas, rubrics, and lesson planning. I have used it for generating letters to families and to generate some examples of question stems teachers can use in designing learning targets. It was helpful to have it that quick.”
Jeanine Kidwell
Libby School District 4, MT
Canopy Case Management
Safety Insights to Support Every Student
Canopy Case Management allows districts to manage threat assessment and suicide risk screening alongside the academic and behavioral information already available in our core platform.
By bringing safety screening and follow-up intervention into a single, secure system, Canopy helps educators follow district protocols and collaborate to support students when it matters most.
“Canopy is doing for us in the realm of school safety what Branching Minds did for us years ago, which is it's giving us insight into what is happening across our district, and allowing us to re-evaluate from a lens of safety and student behavior that we've never done before. Because we are gathering information on threat assessments and suicide risk assessments in one location, and we have data on what actions schools are taking as a result of those assessments.”
Dr. Jess Plaza
Evanston-Skokie School District 65, IL
