An MTSS Solution for California District Leaders
Helping leaders and teams support the whole child across literacy, attendance, behavior, and threat assessment.
Solving the Problems That Fragment Student Support in California
When student data lives in separate systems, across separate teams, with separate plans, it's nearly impossible to see the whole child or catch problems early.
Branching Minds unifies academic, behavioral, attendance, and safety data into one platform, so district leaders, principals, counselors, and support teams are working from the same picture, not five different spreadsheets.
Branching Minds helps California districts:
- Replace fragmented, siloed plans with one coordinated system for every student
- Catch chronic absenteeism and literacy gaps early, before they escalate
- Turn California's suicide prevention requirements (Education Code §215 / AB 2246, AB 1767) into everyday practice, for students in every grade
- Support Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) goals with a shared, whole-child approach
How Branching Minds Brings It Together
Branching Minds gives California districts one connected platform for educators, leaders, and support teams to identify student needs, coordinate supports, strengthen collaboration, and make informed decisions across every school.

Educator Voices from CA and Beyond
"Branching Minds is so intuitive and so user friendly. And I strongly feel that it's a tool that every district should have. "
Leslie Wright
Coordinator of Instructional Supports and Enrichment, Encinitas Union School District, CA
"Branching Minds has been the game changer for us to make MTSS a true whole child system of support. Without it, we would not be as far along as we are and we wouldn't see our kids thriving as they are because we are able to have a system that pulls us all together for us. It would take so much time, we spent years and so many hours trying to create our own and Branching Minds has it all."
Karen Arnett
Director of Teacher and Student Support, Springs Charter Schools, CA
"Last year our literacy scores outpaced the state in growth, and for the first time, our student performance triangle is aligned correctly. It showed us that our new curriculums and interventions are effective."
Dr. Julie Thompson
Superintendent, Roanoke Rapids Graded School District, NC
"I've been doing this work for 36 years, and I've never come across a tool that encompasses so many things districts truly need and that my staff actually use daily."
Dr. William Crankshaw
Superintendent, Greater Johnstown School District, NY
"The streamlined workflows, intuitive menus, and ability to select interventions and assign tasks simplifies the creation of support plans, ensuring educators can efficiently tailor strategies."

California MTSS & Compliance FAQs
CCSPP is built on four pillars: integrated student supports, family and community engagement, collaborative leadership, and extended learning time. MTSS provides the operational framework that helps districts coordinate and document all four, rather than running each as a separate, disconnected initiative. Learn more about how California's 2026 budget supports this work.
SB 114 requires all California LEAs to annually screen K-2 students for risk of reading difficulties, including dyslexia, using a State Board-approved tool, starting in the 2025-26 school year. Districts need a way to document screening results, flag at-risk students, and connect them to timely intervention.
Branching Minds brings K-2 screening results into the same platform where districts already track intervention plans and progress monitoring, so screening data leads directly to action instead of sitting in a separate spreadsheet or system. Districts can document fidelity of implementation and generate the reporting needed to show compliance across every school.
Canopy Case Management helps districts standardize threat assessment protocols, securely document assessments and response plans, coordinate follow-up, and connect students with the supports identified through the assessment, all within your existing MTSS workflow.
Branching Minds supports academic, behavioral, attendance, and social-emotional needs in one unified platform, not literacy alone. Districts use it to identify needs, plan and document interventions, and monitor progress across every tier, including the safety and screening workflows required under Education Code §215.
